SECOND ANNUAL UPSTATE CAREGIVER AWARDS

RECOGNIZING THOSE THAT GIVE OF THEIR HEART AND SOUL IN THE FRONT LINE OF CARING FOR SENIOR ADULTS

February 22, 2008                                        GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA     On March 20, 2008 the Upstate of South Carolina will honor those that care for, assist, volunteer for and provide services for seniors in the Upstate of South Carolina.  Nominations for this extraordinary award have been sent in by associates, family members, seniors and other community members for exemplary people who have demonstrated service to seniors in twelve categories.  These nominations and award winners represent those that give and provide care and service unselfishly to seniors. 

The event itself is headed by Striped Rock President, Bill Sweezy, and supported by a committee representing numerous industry providers across the Upstate and hosted by Upstate Senior Network.  “We are thrilled to at the success this event is generating in the Upstate.  It is wonderful to see so many nominations, volunteers, sponsors and attendees supporting those that meet the needs of seniors,” stated Bill Sweezy, Striped Rock President.  In 2007 this event was held for the first time and the Committee received approximately 100 nominations in all twelve categories, which include Assisted Living Caregiver of the Year, Family Caregiver of the Year, Senior Service Volunteer of the Year, Case Manager of the Year, Senior Agency Professional of the Year, etc.  The banquette itself had over 300 attendees in 2007, which included Lt. Governor Andre Bauer and hosting of the event was done by WYFF Television News Anchor Michael Cogdill. 

This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better than before.  It will be held again at the Hilton Hotel, West Orchard Park Drive, with reception beginning at 6:00 and event beginning at 6:30.  Event will be hosted by WYFF Michael Cogdill and a crowd of over 350 is expected, with live entertainment and seating by the U.S. Marine Corp. Tickets are on sale now for $30 each and $20 for those 65 and beyond. Poinsett Auction is thrilled to be a sponsor and supporter of this inspiring event.  ###
